How clean is your…brush??

♥ Have you noticed that your make up does not look the same when you apply it? Clumpy? Blotchy?

♥ Started to get random breakouts for no reason?

♥ Ever wondered… How dirty are my brushes??? ♥

♥ Dirty make up brushes contain hundreds of different types of bacteria. Think about it, old makeup, dead skin cells…flipping heck!

I’m going to be a good friend and give you a list of the most common bacteria that is found on make up brushes (lovely!)…:

Psuedomonas Aeruginosa
E-Coli
Staphylococcus Aureus

♥ Why are you getting breakouts from dirty brushes? Let me give you an example:

You wake to a deadly, beastly breakout. Now you have a nifty concealer brush and amazing concealer to cover that up and works GREAT!…now you use the same brush (without cleaning) to another part of your face..(it happens..I forgive you)..well there you go gorgeous, you have spread glorious nastiness onto a perfectly lovely part of your face. LORD!!!!!!

♥ You could get irritated skin – this could be due to make up brushes losing its original form and texture. The build up of make up on the bristles can cause this.

♥ If you do not look after your lovely brushes, you may have to throw them away….and those things do not come cheap. Taking good care of them will lengthen their life span.

♥ Cleaning make up brushes should be part of everyone’s beauty regime.

How I clean my brushes:

♥ Daily: I use my M.A.C Brush Cleanser onto all the brushes I have used after my makeup application. I apply this to a cotton pad/ball and use with brushes I use daily: eyeliner, lip brush, foundation and concealer.

♥ Fornight: For deep cleaning my brushes I use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. This leaves the bristles clean, gentle on the face and smells gorgeous when you use them. To get into the nooks and crannies, I use Makeup Revolution Ultra Pro Cleanse Brush Tool, (which I picked up from Superdrug, when I only went for shower gel..)

I lay them flat on kitchen paper and leave them to dry overnight. Make sure you do not soak the brushes or let the water reach the ferrule (the metal part of the brush), this will damage the glue and in time you will notice bristles keep falling out.
